How to Add Network Folders to the Windows Search Index.

I had a user whose PC was working fine with local audio, but would not play audio back to a remote session. Furthermore, programs attempting to do so were occasionally crashing most notably, Windows' own Control Panel and Outlook. In my case the following values were missing from the registry, preventing the Remoteaudio device from showing in "mmsys.

Edit: Also the drive redirection doesn't appear to be working, so it looks like an RDP issue rather than a sound issue.

Edit: SemVanmeenen in the comments mentions that restarting the Windows Audio service on the host fixed it for them, and it appears to fix the issue for a lot of other people too. Improve this answer. In my case, I needed to restart the service 'Windows Audio' on the host.

SemVanmeenen any chance you have experience with remote audio capture issue? I have a server that I make remote connection to and there is currently after, windows update, no recording device, only sound play is working — serup. SemVanmeenen That worked right after I restarted that service called Audiosrv with an active remote desktop session open.

SemVanmeenen this was it! Restarting Windows Audio service worked! Bootable USB is not detected as a boot device. This may happen because of incrrect boot order. By default, your computer only boot from the first boot option. Bootable USB not showing up in boot menu. You can't boot from USB in Windows 10, not even select the right boot option. In this case, the USB drive is likely to be damaged or corrupted.

You may receive error message like "no bootable devices found". Now, I'll provide the approaches to check and fix the problem. Also, if you want an easier way or Windows 10 bootable USB alternative, directly go to the 5th part. To fix it effectively, the first thing you need do is to check where the problem is coming from.

If it's bootable, this may be a configuration issue of your computer. If yes, then the problem may be caused by your own USB drive. And you have two ways to boot computer it, namely using Windows 10 quick boot menu "Use a device" or manually change boot order and then boot. The previous option does not require you to change the startup sequence in the BIOS. Step 1. Press and hold the " Shift " key while clicking " Resta rt " button. Then, your computer will reboot to the Advanced Startup Options screen, click " Use a device ".

Step 2. Select the boot USB drive , wait and see if your computer boot from this drive. Also, if your computer is fast boot mode, you don't need to press any key. Step 3. Go to the " Boot " tab and set the USB drive as the first option using up arrow. Step 4. Press " F10 " to save changes and restart your computer with USB dive. But if the flash drive itself is not actually bootable, your computer will try to boot from the next bootable device in the priority boot sequence of BIOS.

I have tried all of these and a number of others from other websites with no success. However, I tried your suggestion to create a new user in Windows, and search works fine when I log in as that user. What does that suggest that I should try next? I have the same situation. Using Search as a new User works perfectly, however, under my account it is not working properly.

What can I do next? I had similar issues on multiple computers. This issue is related to user profile and not any of the recommendation above. Just delete user profile and recreate it. And now it works! Tiles are back and when I start typing after clicking the windows flag, I get suggestions again!

I want to thank the author of this guide as it helped successfully on 2 machines which I migrated from Windows 10 to I followed all those instructions and the taskbar or start menu search started working again as they should no more dreaded blank menu. MY solution was a bit different than what has been described here — I went into the Task Manager, and I noticed the Search function was temporarily stopped. I killed the process, started a new Taskbar search, and the results started coming up!

This problem exists for several months now and keeps getting back. WTF Microsoft. My windows task bar search option is not work and SearchUI. Created a test user, test user could use the search box without issue. Re-registering universal apps worked for me.

Thanks for the comprehensive troubleshooting guide on this one, very helpful! I when through many of your recommendations. Thank you.

Thank you — the second solution in the list worked for me by deleting 2 of the registry files and running explorer.
